At NY District News, we are bound by a strict commitment to the truth, objectivity, and accountability. Our readers trust us to deliver accurate, verified, and fair investigative reports.

1. Sourcing & Verification Standards

We require primary documentation for all critical allegations. A verbal claim is treated as an assertion, not an established fact, until corroborated by physical, digital, or administrative receipts.

• Multiple Sourcing: Significant factual allegations require confirmation from at least two independent, verified sources or official administrative documents.
• Anonymous Sourcing: We limit the use of unnamed sources to individuals who face severe professional, social, or legal retaliation. If used, their credibility and access to information must be verified by editorial directors.
• Document Integration: When we refer to data, litigation, or audits, we strive to upload the corresponding files directly to our Documents & Data directory.

2. Fairness & Right of Response

We do not engage in surprise reporting or sensationalist hit-pieces. Any person or organization whose actions are subjected to criticism, oversight, or investigation is provided with a transparent timeline to respond.

We present our questions in writing, listing the specific issues uncovered. We allow subjects a reasonable timeframe (typically 3 to 5 business days, unless shorter deadlines are forced by public hearing schedules) to review findings, provide explanations, and offer corresponding documents.

3. Conflicts of Interest

To preserve absolute independent judgment:

• Our journalists do not accept gifts, free services, travel accommodations, or commercial hospitality from sources or corporate entities.
• Reporters must disclose any personal or financial connections to subjects they cover, and will be recused from reporting if a conflict exists.
• We do not accept paid native advertising or sponsored editorial content. All revenue from subscriptions is routed directly into newsroom salaries and primary reporting expenses.
